Broodblame, the Mighty One

Alignment: Neutral
Domains: Greater god, known as the God of Strength
Symbol: Samarium (Broodmetal) ring set with Diamonds
Appearance: Before the greater gods disappeared from the mortal planes, Broodblame was often seen as a very large human, approximately 11 feet tall, and wearing a blue plaid, the attire of the barbarian people who often followed him.

History: Broodblame is known as the strongest of the greater gods when it comes to physical might. He has a jovial temperament, and gets great joy out of showing off his physical prowess. Most of the gods never took much interest in Broodblame, and only called upon him when some great feat requiring his strength needed to be performed. Thus, it was Broodblame who was called upon by Crest to carry his moon fortress into the sky and set it into eternal spin, and it was Broodblame who was called upon by the gods of good to create the great unopenable gates at Crown Spires where Phykrell was imprisoned after the Second War of Fate. Broodblame happily accepted both tasks, as they provided him with a chance to show off his great strength to the other gods.

When he placed Crest's moon fortress into the sky, Broodblame accepted Crest's magic with some degree of annoyance. Broodblame detested magic. To Broodblame, strength was the most desirable of all abilities, and the only ability one should aspire to have. The need to resort to magic, in his opinion, was a sign of great weakness.

Since the other gods seemed to have a greater passion for magic than strength, Broodblame turned to the mortal plane below the stars in order to find those who would appreciate his talents. He found few acceptable beings among the elves and gnomes, and the dwarves were Daeder's creatures. However, when he turned his eye to the remote lands where barbarians of human and orcish descent thrived, Broodblame found what he was looking for. The Barbarians loved a good show of strength. Brute force was far more important to these people than magic.

Broodblame immediately immersed himself into the lives of the barbarian tribes and it is said that, over the years, Broodblame held at least 500 competitions among the tribes, wherein he personally awarded the victors with a Samarium (Broodmetal) ring encrusted with diamonds. It is rumored that these rings enhanced the strength of those who wore them. Once Broodblame disappeared from the mortal plane, these competitions continued; however, the victors these days are awarded only with silver rings, rather than Samarium (Broodmetal).

Followers: The followers of Broodblame are found among the various barbarian tribes in the remote places of the world. As these tribes are no longer only comprised of orcs and humans, Broodblame has found an occasional follower in a dwarf, elf, halfling or gnome. Like their god, Broodblame's followers believe that strength is the greatest asset to have in order to live a good life. Magic is often shunned and rarely used. Those who aspire to learn magic beyond what is taught to become a shaman are typically cast out as weaklings.
